St George's Church - status April 2005

- 21-Apr-2005
Following the planning application lodged by the developer to demolish St George's Church, the subsequent refusal of the plan by the Hounslow Council Sustainable Development Committee and the appeal against that decision, the appeal is now in the hands of the Planning Inspectorate.

For a quick catch up - firstly see the recent news artice on this site via the link below.

Many of us from the Residents Association lodged documents with the Planning Inspectorate and they have acknowledged receipt. These documents added weight and argument to our previously published information given to Hounslow Council in an endeavour to save the building.

The documents attempt to clarify the status of the burial remains, the historic links between the Sarah Trimmer Hall and St George's Church, and add further opinion to why St George's Church should not be demolished.

The Planning Inspectorate have advised us any hearing is unlikely to take place before the end of this year.

We are permitted to attend the hearing and at the beginning of the hearing can request to speak if desired.

As part of the process we have also invited the Inspector to view St George's Church from behind, inside, and from some of our residences to get a broader view of the building in context.

Further updates to the status of the Church will appear as and when available.
