Thames21's Local Rivers Coordinator Nerida Matulick said "Getting involved in clean ups highlights to local people the importance of keeping our rivers clean and how anyone can play a part in improving their local stretch of river, which can often be blighted by litter."

"The River Thames is an incredible river corridor and wildlife superhighway running through the heart of the capital and we can all help to improve the health of these vital green spaces for everyone to enjoy, use and explore."

Thames21 provide all equipment and Health and Safety instruction on the day. Wear old clothes which are appropriate for the weather.

Thames21 formed ten years ago in response to the lack of statutory duty on any organisation to clear litter from rivers and canals. It began working with communities and businesses to clean and green the River Thames and now works on a range of projects across London's 400-mile network of rivers and canals.
