St George's Church - the cleanup continues

- 27-Nov-2006
Following on from our clean up day the Diocese of London have stepped in and are cleaning up the back section of the property as well.

You might have noticed some activity around the back of the church along with smoke coming from a fire.

There are some contractors cleaning up the back section of the church inclusive of demolishing the old shed that was in the back corner by the Travelodge Hotel. They are also removing overgrown shrubs and trees, but leaving the line of trees along the back fence.

The trees are being cleared next to the north wall to stop any further damage to the building by roots etc, as we did along the east side.

We understand the roof is also to get some attention because it does leak a little, a problem the old tenants the Musical Museum, laboured consistently at any opportunity.

It will certainly be a pleasure to see the rear of the building clear of rubble and shrubs.

I lived in Brentford 1940 - 1962. My Father worked at the Gasworks. My parents were married in St Georges 1932. I was Christned (named) there in 1941. What can I do to help? Now living in the Beach in East Sussex.
