- 29-Nov-2006
A large re-development of the south side of Brentford High Street has been on the cards for some time - what's happening?

Large sums - circa £500 million - have been talked about when the subject of the Brentford High Street shopping area redevelopment comes up, but that has been talked about for at least 5 years.

Recent investigations by locals reveal a consortium have been buying up parcels of land and now control a major part of the land.

It is estimated £30 million has been spent so far in acquiring the land.

The consortium comprises most of the same parties involved in the Wood Wharf development - British Waterways and Ballymore. In the High Street plan they are identified as Geronimo and Sunley.

A Brentford councillor has been active in attempting to move forward on establishing what the community wants and requires before the developers wade in with their proposals. See those plans here on the www.brentfordhighstreet.co.uk web site.
